The creator of the beloved comic strip Dilbert, Scott Adams, recently shared an emotional and deeply personal update: he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and it has already spread to his bones. He made this announcement during his web show, “Real Coffee with Scott Adams,” on May 19, 2025 — just one day after former President Joe Biden revealed that he, too, has the same disease.

“My life may only last until the summer”
The 67-year-old cartoonist didn’t hold back while speaking to his viewers:
“I also have prostate cancer that has spread to my bones. I believe I may only have until summer.”
He went on to describe the daily struggle:
“Every day is a nightmare. The evenings are even worse.”
Adams explained he has been using a walker for several months and that he experiences constant, shifting pain that never really goes away.
Expressing Sympathy for Joe Biden
During the episode, Adams expressed heartfelt compassion for Biden and his family:
“They’re going to be going through an especially tough time. It’s going to get very painful for the president.”
President Biden’s cancer is reported to be hormone-sensitive, meaning it can be managed effectively with medical treatment. He is currently exploring treatment options with his doctors and family.
Scott Adams: From Comic Genius to Controversial Figure
Scott Adams launched Dilbert in 1989, offering a satirical look at office life that resonated with millions. However, in 2023, Adams faced backlash after making racially charged remarks. As a result, hundreds of newspapers dropped his comic strip.
In the past, he has made several controversial public statements on race and politics, but his contributions to the world of cartooning remain significant for many fans.
“It felt like the right time to share this”
Adams said he had been waiting for the right moment to share his diagnosis with the public. When Biden’s diagnosis became public, he felt that moment had come.
“I thought to myself, ‘I’ll slide under his story. He’s the ex-President, he’ll get most of the attention.’ That made it a little easier for me to say it.”

A Time for Support and Awareness
Now, both a world-famous cartoonist and a former U.S. president are fighting the same aggressive disease. This moment is not only heartbreaking but also a call for awareness — especially when it comes to men’s health and prostate cancer.
